Afforesting of protected zone “Dragoman”

Last autumn we collected acorns with local origin from the region of Dragoman and Beledie han.With the cooperation of Forest Seed-control Station, State Forestry – Sofia and “Initiative Group Vitosha” Association from the acorns were grown saplings, which we planted with your help during the spring on suitable locations to restore Downy oak forests. Because of the dry summer, the percentage of rooting of the planted saplings is only 35 %, which requires replenishment or replacement of the withers with new ones this autumn. It will include planting of saplings of oak ant other local species in already molded grounds.
