Bird watching trip to Kerkini, Greece, 19-20 December 2009

The observation trip was joined by many of us who were not biology specialists but who found it very interesting and useful. We were acquainted with the diversity of species at the lake at this time of the year, as well as the ways and methods of observation and description of the observed. While watching the birds we observed also interesting animal species.

The main impression we got there, as distinct from what we have here, was the common existence of humans and wild animals and birds which are not oppressed and destroyed by man or intensive human activities, and which can come closer at ease. This is of great help for the development of ecological and alternative tourism to which the local population is aspiring quite successfully.

I hope that there will be some more initiatives like that in the future.
