The traffic is heavily impeded, and more than ten trams and a large number of trolleybusses cannot make their way in both directions at the crossing of Rakovski and the Graf Ignatiev street.
The whole crossing is covered with boxes with "illegal hotel" labels on them, which represent the future appearance of the Rila Mountain.
The protestors are chanting "Mafia" and refuse to leave the place.
The police have reportedly arrested one of them.
The people protest against the building of hotels, ski runs and ski lifts in the area. The construction project belongs to the Rila Sport company, whose name is linked to Bulgaria"s former finance minister Milen Velchev and his brother.
The hotels will not be built in the protected areas, but parts of the ski runs and the lifts will have to pass through it and the company has already sent all kinds of construction machinery, which destroys the protected by the state nature.
