This is an excellent opportunity to be part of a green NGO working at the European level in Brussels. You will be working in a highly respected and growing campaigning organisation, as part of a vibrant European network.

EU funds campaign coordinator – profile

The EU funds campaign coordinator leads the work in the area of greening EU cohesion policy in two directions:

1. Build and coordinate a EU wide coalition on the reform of the future cohesion policy and its structural instruments with interested partners;
2. Be part of the International staff of Bankwatch and FoEE and leading the EU Working group comprised of ten environmental organisations from Central and Eastern Europe.



Main duties:

EU wide coalition on the reform of the future cohesion policy

* Build and develop an EU wide coalition with partners from environmental, social, development and research organisations
* Establish new alliances and mobilise potential new partners and supporters
* Circulate relevant information and initiate policy discussions within the Coalition
* Monitor the relevant EU policy areas as they develop such as EU budget, cohesion and environmental policy
* Coordinate and support the development of views and positions of the EU funds coalition
* Promote these views and positions at EU Institutions, among other decision-makers and stakeholders, with the aim of achieving policy change
* Represent the Coalition, Bankwatch and FoEE in the scope of agreed activities



EU Working group leadership and coordination

* Organise the planning process for the EU working group and prepare the yearly EU working group workplan including building consensus and ownership of the agreed workplan
* Ensure national coordinators provide inputs and that there is consistency with other working groups' objectives and activities
* Conduct the annual evaluation of the EU Working group work and present it at the AGM
* Provide input from the planning into FoEE operational plans
* Oversee that activities from the workplan are done in a timely, substantive and results-oriented manner, this includes coordination of the implementation with other Bankwatch working groups and FoEE programmes activities
* Provide guidance, expertise and assistance at various stages during the BW/FoEE campaigns



Bankwatch and FoEE network support

* Participate in other working groups / task forces in BW/FoEE
* Assist the work of Bankwacth management team, Executive and Review Committees
* Identify areas where further expertise can/should be developed and attend relevant trainings
* Provide input and/or comment to the narrative for fundraising proposals and reporting documents for Bankwatch and FoEE
* Coordinate and oversee the implementation of the project’s activities
* Consult the budget preparation and implementation with Bankwatch/FoEE financial departments
* Provide close supervision to three national coordinators in Bankwatch




Person specifications

1. University degree;
2. At least two-three years experience of campaigning and/or political lobbying; the post holder would be expected to be able to deal with senior people with confidence;
3. A good knowledge of EU environmental and cohesion policies;
4. A good knowledge about CEE countries – legislation, environmental and social problems, economic situation;
5. Proven networking experience in a multinational environment, preferably in the field of environmental protection;
6. Familiarity with EU institutions, processes, timetables and stakeholders;
7. Proven experience in teams and processes coordination;
8. Good analytical and research skills;
9. Ability to work in a multinational environment and to accommodate cultural diversities; ability to pursue new and unfamiliar challenges;
10. Ability to work under time pressure, in a multi-tasking fashion, to take own initiatives and to manage time and capacities efficiently;
11. Experience in working with funding applications’
12. Fluency in English and preferably another European (especially CEE) language;
13. Readiness to travel frequently in Europe;
14. Passion for and dedication to the environment and sympathy to the NGO movement.
