The map presents all attractions of the Eastern Rhodopes fully covering ten municipalities - Kardzhali, Ardino, Chernoochene, Momchilgrad, Dzhebel, Kirkovo, Krumovgrad, Ivaylovgrad, Madzharovo, Stambolovo and parts of five more municipalities - Harmanli, Svilengrad, Nedelino, Lyubimets and Zlatograd in total area of 6000 sq. km.
The map exposes all the tourist information about the area: 38 archaeological and historical sites, 32 natural sites, 15 protected areas, 13 religious sites. Special attention with pictures and brief descriptions is given to Perperikon, the Sanctuary in the village of Tatoul, the fortresses Lyutitsa, Monyak and Ustra, Villa Armira, Womb cave, the Kromleh - known as the Bulgarian Stonehenge, the dolmens in the Eastern Rhodopes, the Thracian religious monuments in Dolno Cherkovishte and Nochevo and the Devil's Bridge.
About 20 hiking and mountainbike trails are presented with details of the displacement, length and time needed; information on the sights along the way is also available. The map has all marked places for bird watching (suitable for ornithological tours), sites for mammals and reptiles watching (suitable for Wildlife travels) and beautiful panoramic views, which show the stunning beauty of Eastern Rhodopes.
A special sketch exposes the biodiversity of the Eastern Rhodopes, one of the richest in Europe. The diverse landscape of this region - forests and open areas - is marked in different colors which makes the map unique.
The map offers updated and detailed information on road infrastructure, checkpoints and all places where tourists can stay overnight or stop for food and refreshment. There is a list of tourism and nature centers, museums and expositions in the region with information on their contact details and working hours.
The total print of the map is 2500 copies: 1500 in Bulgarian and 1000 in English. The map is financed by the New Thracian gold project. Revenues from the first edition of the map will be used for printing a second updated edition.
