The Mayor of Bansko admitted – The World Ski Cup competitions will be held on illegally built ski runs in Pirin National Park

Environmentalists are addressing to the Minister of Regional Development, Rossen Plevenliev, and Minister of Environment and Water, Nona Karadjova, with a request to carry out the necessary inspections for the existence of construction documents as regards the ski runs in Pirin National Park and in case of ascertaining the absence of these latter to undertake the necessary actions aimed at removing the illegal constructions and recultivating the terrains in the national park.

“To organize World Ski Cup competitions on illegally built ski runs is an attempt to compromise Bulgaria in exchange of favoring the concessionaire of the Ski Zone, namely “Uren” AD, which is owned by offshore companies.”

The coalition reminds that no results have been announced for more than half a year of the ordered by the Ministry of Environment and Water double inspection on the portion of the territory of the National park is made use of by the concessionaire and how much he is paying to the State for that. Satellite pictures show, that probably the used territory is twice bigger than the one declared in the concession document.
