The Eco Мinistry must answer whether it has reasons to end the concession contract for Bansko ski zone
The environmentalists also insist that the Ministry publish the prepared several months ago legal analyses which determine if the contract was violated during its implementation and whether there is enough evidence that may be used to end the contract.
‘’The concession contract is absolutely clear’’, announced the coalition ‘’For the Nature, Bulgaria’’. The concession gave Yulen the right to build and use a ski zone covering 99.55 ha. The Terriotorial-development Plan for Bansko ski zone (2001) is the only one which defines the acceptable building in Pirin NP. The borders of Bansko ski zone area are determined by 252 co-ordinating points and in the framework of the concession contract is indicated a list of all construction sites that are allowed to be build there.
Statements that the concession contract is unclear are made by those who are interested to conceal its violations’’, warns the ecocoalition. These violations include ski tracks, lifts and facilities not envisaged in the concession such as the ski tracks – Platoto, Shiligarnik 2, the ski lifts: Zhelezen most – Platoto, Platoto-Todorka, facilities for water intake from river Bunderitza, etc. In 2011 the Eco Ministry confessed that the exact area of the concession exceeds the permitted with 60 per cent.
This concession contract, which is the first to use public territory in National parks in Bulgaria directly violates article 21 from the Law of conservated areas, that prohibits the building of new lifts and tracks. A decade later it becomes clear that granting public property in Pirin NP under concession is not acceptable for public interest, because due to private interests it has been done damage without any control of the unique landscape and ancient forests under peak Todorka.

In order to overcome the manipulations and misguided opinions regarding the violations in Pirin NP, the society has to receive an answer to the following questions:

-Why several consecutive governments allow, conceal and tolerate violations of the concession contract, for example the building of facilities, not included in the concession contract and not co-ordinated with the authorities in a proper manner?
-Does the concession for Bansko ski zone create corruption, which destroys natural resources of national importance and does it create monopoly of an economic circle over touristic services, having implied control over hotels, touroperators, ski schools, restaurants and other services?
