The introduction of these restrictions has now become urgent, after a memorandum of understanding for completion of prioritized investment project for building-up of Karadere area in Byala Municipality was announced yesterday at a Council of Ministers session. http://www.government.bg/cgi-bin/e-cms/vis/vis.pl?s=001&p=0228&n=5683&g
The project involves constructions of mega hotel complexes and thousands of villas in parts of protected areas under Natura 2000, “Kamchiyska planina” and “Plazh-Shorpilovtsi”, and is moved by unclear economic interests. It is believed that persons close to BSP leader Sergey Stanisheve are linked with the project.
The proposed amendments to the Law on Black Sea Coast Development are important also because they uphold public interest. A recent research by Alpha Research shows that nearly 80% of Bulgarian citizens think additional building-up of Black Sea coast inadmissible.
