As a certified specialist in nature conservation, Maya Radeva was one of the two creators of the nature park that protects some of the most beautiful forests and water catchment areas in Gabrovo and Tryavna.
Along with Petyr Petrov from Gabrovo, Maya Radeva has worked for several years for declaring of protected areas and has done a lot for tourism and the nature of Stara planina.
Although Forestry Agency, whose obedience includes all 11 nature parks in the country, refers to them as a stepmother, Maya Radeva has attracted a lot of funds for the development of Bulgarka Nature Park. And probably the resources got too much to let her manage them for the benefit of nature. Bulgarka Nature Park performs four European projects for over 11 million levs. For comparison, the budget approved by Forestry Agency for the maintenance of the park directorate for 2014 is 5000 levs.
Coalition “Let Nature Remain in Bulgaria” is standing for professional management of protected areas and against political dismissals and appointments.
