During the whole November 2014, 12 traditional, but forgotten recipes of the region of Nature Park “Bulgarka” will be offered in the restaurants of K-Express in Sofia, Varna, Burgas and Plovdiv. The activity is part of the cooperation initiative “The culinary secrets of the nature” between WWF, K-Express and the Embassy of Switzerland in Bulgaria.
The president of Republic of Bulgaria, Mr. Rosen Plevneliev, as well as ministers, experts, journalists, representatives of non-governmental organizations, the business and branch organizations are invited. During the cocktail, a degustation of variety of dishes from specific recipes as well as local products of the region would be possible. In this way, all participants can taste a part of the tradition and the flavor of the natural and cultural heritage from the heart of Bulgaria.
The event will launch a one-month money collection campaign in order to restore an endangered breed of Balkan mountain sheep and its return on the territory of the nature park. Ten percent of the money collected from dishes based on recipes from Nature Park “Bulgarka” in K-Express restaurants will be invested in a fund for rehabilitation of the Balkan mountain sheep by purchasing lambs of this breed and their breeding in the park. The initiative is part of the scheme for payment of ecosystem services “Rehabilitation and maintaining the representative gene pool in protected areas” developed by WWF.
