The female vulture was born under a happy star, because in Bulgaria it found its godfather, Mr. Petar Stefanov, deputy mayor of Varshets Municipality. Thanks to him, K77 is now called Varshets. Moreover – after a few months of adaptation, it was set free. In order that we follow her movement and adaptation, Varshets was marked with a special GPS/GSM transmitter, and now anyone can join in her adventure here:

In the region of Vrachanski Balkan Natural Park in October, forty five griffin vultures have been identified, which have been set free here in Central Balkan, Sliven, Kotel and Kresna, as well as marked in Serbia and Israel, and also wild non-marked guests. This is the biggest number of these majestic birds established in this project. This big success is a result of the efforts of the experts of the Birds of Prey Protection Society, as well as of the efforts of all colleagues and friends of vultures.
We hope that more people will follow Mr. Stefanov’s example and will contribute to the return of vultures in Bulgaria!
