All the birds were examined, deworming and marked with special wing markers and rings which will allow us to recognize them in freedom. The vultures which came from Spain traditionally received yellow wing markers with black letters. That is the last consignment of vultures that came as part of the project “Return the vultures in Bulgaria”
Parvolet, however is special one - our first baby hatched and bred by the white-headed vultures in the Rescue centre for wild Animals at Green Blakans in Stara Zagora. Due to the fact that he is Bulgarian and in order to distinguish him among the others, Parvolet received green ring B65 (B is the letter chosen for Bulgaria) and blue wing marker with code B65.
He hatched on 29 of April 2014 but in August he left his natural born nest after zloupotrebi with the patience of his careful parents.
From December 2014 Parvolet is a partner and leader of the group of 34 new born white-headed vultures who came from Spain. We do hope he will learn from them how to behave as real vultures, how to look for for food and how to tear tough fur that he eats.
After a month or so it is time all the vultures to head off to their last stop on the way to freedom- the special voltiers for adaptation in Stara planina and Kresna. They will have few months to orientate and get introduced to already rescued vultures and after that we will let them free.
We wish bon voyage and keep our fingers crossed for our beloved Parvolet.
