The webplatform is aimed at granting opportunity to the organizations which supply services within the sphere of the informal education on sustainable development to find partners, to exchange objective experience, to enhance their capacity and to popularize their activities. The website will serve the civil organizations, media, local communities, students and last but not least the educational institutions in the country.

The participants in the press conference – Hristina Bancheva, Director of “EcoCentric” Foundation and Project manager, Donka Kalcheva, Project manager in the “Future now” Community Centre, Anelia Pavlova, Expert in Green Balkans Association and Lyubomira Kolcheva, Director of “EcoCommunity” Foundation, highlighted the significance of the project in the modern dynamic life conditions. They wish the issue entered more actively on the public agenda, bearing in mind the interdisciplinary nature of the education on sustainable development and the universality of the informal educational approaches.

The education on sustainable development is perceived as a process of personal and social development, which is life-long learning, and by which knowledge and skills are acquired and perspectives and values are shaped. It integrates economic, environmental, social and cultural life aspects and builds up responsible behavior to the entire surrounding world.

Within the project, funded by the NGO Programme in Bulgaria, “EcoCentric” Foundation joins forces with “EcoCommunity” Foundation, “Club Friends of “Vrachanski Balkan” Natural Park” Association, “Ecomission 21 century” Association, GEUM Association, “Green Balkans” Association and “Future now 2006” Community Centre. The partners from Vratsa, Lovech, Varna, Plovdiv, the village of Gudevitsa and Sofia hope that the project will start a wide public discussion for the need of teaching by proper methods of current knowledge and skills for sustainable development with a view to their apparent lack in the actual curricula in Bulgaria.

The project “Platform for popularization and quality of the education on sustainable development” is funded within the NGO Programme in Bulgaria under the European Economic Area Financial Mechanism 2009-2014.
