Bulgaria protects rivers for the Earth Hour
In 2014 over 162 countries and 7000 cities participated in the Earth Hour not only with switch-off of lights but also with real actions for keeping of local natural resources – rivers, forests, sea territories, traditional agricultural livelihood, threatened species, support of energy effective decisions. WWF makes efforts for enlarging of this movements and turning the Earth hour into opportunity for unification of people, businesses and authorities into long-term actions for environmentalism.

River keeping is the focus of WWF Bulgaria this year. “With the active support of more than 100 municipalities, businesses and authorities Bulgaria established an active community empathic to the Earth Hour. It is time we directed this public energy to concrete actions important for the nature of Bulgaria. We chose the focus this year to be on the river preservation recognized for most important natural resource by over 70% of the Bulgarians”, shares Vesselina Kavrukova, manager of WWF Bulgaria.
