For the Earth Hour we have some ideas and proposals.
River petition – the support for the decisions we propose for the river problems gains might. Do you know, for example, that in Bulgaria almost all fish passages are improper or built without the participation of specialists? Unlike the practice in some other countries where on a pool there are two kinds of fish passage, in our country most often a stairs of concrete is made on which even water does not flow.
Decision – legislature changes to be adopted and their implementation to be ensured. With each next signature our demands for changes become stronger and difficult for ignoring.
Photos of the river – together with our partners from "Fishing club Balkanka" Association, we mark the damage of the rivers in the country on dams.reki.bg. At the moment over 200 small water power stations exist without counting the sub-dam ones. Around more 300 stations with issued permits for water usage are at different stage of implementation. Even if the half of them are built, this could be the end of the rivers. We think that before rushing headlong into establishing new power stations, it is worth knowing what happens with the existing ones. For this reason we call on everybody who is interested in rivers remain alive to take pictures of their river and the passages in it.
Since activism is not for everybody, we suggest also two lighter challenges. We switch off the lights on 28th March from 20.30 till 21.30 and organize the events in several towns:
26th March, Plovdiv – screening of DamNation at Lucky Cinema, at 18.00. Each screening is accompanied with a discussion. Entrance is free!
26th March, Berkovitsa – screening of DamNation at “Ivan Panov” School at 13.00;
27th March, Rousse - screening of DamNation at Historical Museum at 17.30;
28th March, Varna – screening of DamNation at FCC at 18.00 and celebration of the Earth Hour after the film. Co-organizers of the event in Varna are CRE8 Association and non-formal group P4K. From 20.30 we will start with a fire and LED show under the accompaniment of acoustic music.
28th March, Sofia – the traditional celebration of the Earth Hour in front of the National Theatre – a light show, drawing of protected species with light – from 20.00 till 21.00.
Pictures in the dark – everybody can send a message to the rivers while drawing something in the dark with light and taking picture of it with a camera. We have published instructions on the WWF website and on Facebook.
Follow the news on our website and on Facebook where we will publish new information about the events and the participants in them.
The Earth Hour is realized with the support of our partners. The media partners give free space for the banners, radio and TV clips of the campaign and reflect the event in their media. People of art present the events in the Earth Hour with their skills and masterpieces. We thank them for the support!
