We will find out more about the mileage of the participants in the campaign, the cycling hotspots in Sofia and the country altogether. What’s impressive here is not just the massive number of participating cyclists in Sofia, but also the change the campaign brought about in various other towns.
This year we decided to mark the final of the “Bike to Work” campaign in a new and provocative way. Instead of the traditional bike parade, we invite you to an open-air cycle-in screening of a movie about a reality similar to ours: a large city jammed with traffic, but full of cyclists working towards a change. Auto*Mat is a movie meant to inspire actions towards the better cycling future of our cities. The Czech director Martin Marecek tell the story of cycling advocacy in Prague from a personal perspective. With a mixture of three different genres, documentary, animation and a song video, the movie poses important questions: Is the Mayor of Prague cyclist or a populist? Are we in control of the city or it the city in control of us?
And one more question to us, cyclists in Bulgaria: How can we follow in the footsteps (or tyre marks) of the people of Prague? Join us on Sunday, May 31, 8 P.M., at the round bar in Sv. Sedmochislenitsi garden in Sofia to find out.
