Zagorka Green Fund is a national competition for generating green sustainable ideas for towns and villages, which has been conducted since 2011, as a part of Brewing a Better Future, a Zagorka AD platform for corporate social responsibility and sustainable development. The two main categories in which the projects will be competing in 2015 are: Saving Energy and Saving Water. Since last year, in addition to non-governmental organizations, physical persons can participate too. So far, under Zagorka Green Fund, the company has given away over 300,000 leva for the local community of Stara Zagora and its region.
From May 29 to August 31 at the site of the company, www.zagorkacompany.bg, everybody can share their green idea, by filling a specially designed web form, with which they can send a file with a description of their project. The next phase of the competition, September 1 – 15, a jury comprised of Zagorka AD representatives, WWF representatives, Emil Hristov – chairman of Stara Zagora Municipal Council, Georgi Ranov – Regional Director of Stara Zagora, Evgeniya Drumeva – chief editor of media group Netinfo, Momchil Rabadzhiyski – director of laboratory on energy economy at Technical University of Sofia, and Daniela Dimitrova – chair of ODF Stara Zagora (public donor fund) will evaluate the best proposals. The winners will be announced at a special ceremony in the second half of the month of September.
The author or authors of the winning idea will receive a money award of 10,000 leva, and Zagorka will implement with its own resources the project in a real environment at the amount of up to 50,000 leva. In the last phase of Zagorka Green Fund, through online voting, the public will choose a town or village in Stara Zagora region, where the winning project will be implemented.

Zagorka Green Fund starts in 2011 as a part of Brewing a Better Future, our platform for corporate social responsibility and sustainable development. In the last four years the initiative has been run in the form of a national public competition for implementation of green projects on the territory of Stara Zagora region. Physical persons too can take part in the competition since 2014. The initiative envisages Zagorka AD to implement with its own means the best projects of the competition, for the purpose of which an expert jury evaluates all submitted green ideas and announces a winner.
