Second herb festival at the village of Mladen
Dessislava Dimitrova from Slow Food movement will host “Herbs in the kitchen” workshop in the afternoon of July 4th. Dessislava is associate professor in botany at the Biodiversity and Ecosystem Research Institute at Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. She has coordinated Slow Food movement in Bulgaria since 2004. The main goal of the organization is preservation of Bulgarian culinary culture, food biodiversity and the livelihood of local communities. Slow Food facilitates the link between producers and consumers, and also educates the taste and gastronomical searches of Bulgarian public. Dessi challenges festival’s guests to bring their favourite recipes of spices or herbs, and see what we will mix together.

Antoaneta Kalenderova has prepared a special workshop for the kids, “Life’s Network”, which includes many amusing games. Antoaneta is a pedagogue and has a diploma in marketing and management. She is the chairwoman of Contemporary Education Movement in Bulgaria, and has been training directors of schools and teachers at Akademica educational center. She still works with children aged kindergarten to twelfth grade. She was part of the team and managed international educational projects focused on improving school environment, the quality of the educational products offered, environmental education and others. She has behind her a number of organised adventure camps for children and youths, green schools and leadership academies.

There will be one more surprise for the guests of the festival, a workshop with decoupage technique, with Reni Dimitrova. Reni Dimitrova uses a number of techniques for manually creating things – thus inspiring new life into old things, making presents for special occasions, or simply decorating the space around you and making it cozier. She does workshops in decoupage, scrapbooking, and other interesting techniques.

The event will be hosted by Atanas Bonchev – Nakata. The herb festival will also include field wreath competition, which will be headed by the ethnologist and Director of Humor and Satire House of Gabrovo Tatyana Tsankova. After the official closing ceremony on the square of Mladen village, a musical program will follow with the singers from Byal Gerdan and a performance of Ivan Dyakov.

The hosts will offer space for tents to the visitors, and will offer free herb tea to all. For more information follow the Facebook page of the festival: https://www.facebook.com/pages/
