A project for volunteers and research of the Black sea cetaceans has started
The activities of the project comprise presentations in front of the target populations – biology students and ecologists, as well as representatives of different yacht clubs and yacht owners. After the theoretical lectures, practical trainings for the most active volunteers will follow. The beach strips will be investigated for dead cetaceans, and from specific points on the dry land and floating in the high seas, the three species of cetaceans – ordinary dolphin, afala and mutkur - will be traced.

During the conduction of the activities an active connection with the participants will be maintained which will facilitate the capacity building process. The gained knowledge will the possibility for continuation of the collection of information about the cetacens even after the end of the project. The aforementioned will contribute to gathering of information about the spreading of the Black sea mammals, which is going to serve as a base for outlining of specific measures for their preservation.
