Workshop topics
The workshop will provide practical experience and knowledge on artificial reefs, which are created by REEFS project, and part of which have been installed in the region by the village of Kranevo. Biologists, marine ecologists and divers will acquaint the participants on the following topics:
- What artificial reefs are, what types of artificial reefs there are, and how they are produced and installed;
- What the use of artificial reefs for marine ecosystems and for people is;
- Practical exercises in making an artificial reef;
- A visit to the site where reefs are made and where they are installed;

What we provide:
- a lodging in rooms for three – food included in a hostel in the village of Kranevo for the period 11-13 September 2015;
- Transport Varna – Kranevo and back after the training is over on September 13, 2015.

More information on the project

The project REEFS aims at restoring and improving marine ecosystems and addresses the problems with organic contaminators in the Black Sea through providing adequate conditions for thriving of the natural filters of sea water in the Black Seat – clams. The project is implemented in partnership with four more Black Sea countries– Romania, Ukraine, Georgia, and Turkey, and also aims at improving the knowledge and information necessary for construction and installation of artificial reefs, as well as making modern strategies, action plans and internal measures, aiming at rehabilitation of marine resources and preservation of fishing at the Black Sea in the future.
