The citizens against the Mafia. Another round!

Our requests:

1. 1 Interruption of the construction actions in Vitosha and Pirin IMMEDIATELY.

2. Dismissal of the directors of National Park “Vitosha”, National Park “Pirin” and the remain of responsible persons

3. Bringing the Management plans back for full overworking.

4. The State to attack all constructions, part of the concession in National Park “Pirin”, as a state property, in the direction, that the law demands. This will stop further sales by the concessioner, like way it happened with the lifts on “Shiligarnika” and “Platoto”

In National Park “Pirin” the Offshore company “Marengo Trading” steals for free protected territory, belonging to all of us. This company does not own a concession over the park, but it has almost built 6-seated lift, which has never been planned. The State helps it, instead of penalizing it. Because of this issue, an audit is conducted by the Public Prosecutor’s Office, against the Ex-Minister of Environment. He was part of the political party “Movement for Rights and Freedoms”, during the guidance of Ex- Prime Minister - Oresharski’s Government. Right now, the current Environmental Minister, eases the job and gives permission to cut down Macedonian Pines of hundreds of years in Pirin Mountain. She calls them “pieces of wood”, which “will be used for reconstruction of pathways”. Great , a?

In National Park “Vitosha”, another Offshore company, but connected with the previous one, moves “moraines” and flattens the range around the ski tracks, digs illegal system for artificial snow, without the necessary valid permits, near to the water zones. As well fire protection towers are built, which is nothing more, than an ugly spending of EU Funds.

For all 3 National Parks – “Rila”, “Pirin” and “Vitosha” are on their way to accept 10 year Management plans. With the request of future investors, these plans will allow construction activities upon more 50 % of the protected territory and logging. In National Park “Rila” the map with the protected zones, was amended at the last moment.

Hundreds of people and organizations sent their statements to the institutions, with the claim – the new plans must not be accepted in this form. If these plans pass through and get approved, it will be extremely difficult to stop all of the oligarch’s desires for ski tracks, hotels and anything they come up with.

This is the reason we came out on the street. And if it’s necessary, we will come out again. This battle for a long time is not only for the century forest and the unbuilt sand.

The authorities must understand, they will not be left in piece, while they continue to close their eyes in front of the lawlessness. The future of Rila, Pirin and Vitosha, will not be clear, even we win this battle. But for sure, if today we don’t rise, tomorrow will be late, very late.

But we will succeed! If we are many.
