“Our country can line up among the countries, which work on overcoming of the risks, provoked by the already happening changes in the climate. The transition to 100% renewable energy by 2050 isn’t a chimera, but something which will bring benefits to our country and energy independence of the households. We insist Bulgaria to support the acceptance of specific aims for overcoming of the dependency on fossil fuels. Also to encourage in our country the introduction of renewable energy at the level of households and municipalities”, Teodora Stojanova from “Greenpeace”- Bulgaria commented.
During the starting two-week’s meeting in Paris the world leaders are expected to reach an agreement, which will propose real measures for the fight with the climate changes.
It is extremely important for the success of the upcoming conference the countries to reach an agreement for the application of activities, which in practice will contribute to reaching of the goal for limitation of the rising of the global temperature under 2 degrees Celsius compared to the level in 1990. To achieve this, in the decisions of the meeting in Paris have to be envisioned strict measures for decisive decreasing on a world scale of the dependency on fossil fuels and to move towards 100% renewable energy by 2050.
The burning of coal not only pollutes, but is also a major factor for the climate changes. If we don’t transform our energy system now, the price which we will pay subsequently will be very high. The climate changes will have their repercussions on the agriculture, on tourism, on all sectors of our economy. It is time to stake on the renewable energy – the one which is accessible to everybody and is consistent with the local opportunities and needs.
The Coalition for the climate – Bulgaria shares its standpoint that Bulgaria has to hold a proactive position regarding the formation of long term goals and policies, as well as to commit itself to the application of specific measures and actions for softening of the consequences of the negative effects of the climate changes in the country.
