According to the campaign’s idea, for every kilogram of plastic waste you can take a book at will, and this year we will offer several new titles printed especially for this purpose. Organizers from the publishing house Smart Books Foundation, "Credo Bonum" foundation, and their partners from the Bulgarian-American Credit Bank, Ecopack Bulgaria, and the municipalities of Burgas, Veliko Tarnovo and Kyustendil added to the selection the works "Max and Moritz", "The secret Garden" and "War of the worlds".
As in the previous editions, at the collection points in the cities only plastic bottles of water, beer, soft drinks, vegetable oils, cans and bottles of cosmetics, hygiene products and detergents, buckets of yogurt, plastic cups and trays will be accepted. Plastic bags, stretch-wrapping foil or packaging foil, crates, old plastic toys are also among the list of plastic products, for which you’d be able to get a book. All waste must be emptied of content and crushed to occupy less space. The collected plastic products will be subject to secondary sorting and will then be recycled to re-enter the domestic world.
During the last year the campaign secured the collection and processing of more than 14 tons of plastic and in return handed out over 11,000 books to the participants. For comparison - according to research, the energy saved by recycling a single bottle could power a computer for 25 minutes.
The organizers will provide information about the days when "Books in exchange for garbage " will be held in the different cities, along with details of the times and collection points by location.
