Commission for conflict of interest checks the case 'Bedechka'
"Bedechka" stretches over 1,000 acres of green space and the only river in the city passes through it. The Nature park is home for over 150 species of animals, some of which are endangered and big trees that have been issued a passport amount to more than 1500. After a series of scandalous changes in the last 13 years much of the park’s area has been assigned for construction.
A group of citizens deposited a signal to the Commission for at least three possible conflict of interest. The signal is accompanied by the necessary documentation. After a more than a hour session, the Commission wanted to hear the opinion of the representative of the group, submitted the signal.

After acquainted with the case, municipal representatives asked to receive additional documents, which according the citizens concern many possible legal irregularities or violations. Any supporting documentation regarding the case will be submitted within the lawful terms,

The informal group that stands for the saving of the park "Bedechka" as well submitted signals to the Commission for Prevention and Ascertainment of Conflict of Interest and to regional Committee on Prevention and Countering Corruption. European institutions are also likely to intervene in the investigation.

The depositors said they "hope the Commission to consider the signal in the spirit of transparency and best European practices and to conduct an independent investigation." Due to the large public interest and the imperative urgency of the decision, the citizens expect the Commission to submit to the next session of the Municipal Council a proposal for a temporary moratorium on construction while running investigations.
