The Truth about Bulgaria’s Forests and My Personal Pain reveal ecological and environmental issues that are common or less in Bulgaria; however, the films pose an important question too: is this just the beginning of the fight for nature and its purity in Bulgaria? What should we do?
Patrick Smithuis lives in Bulgaria; he is the father of two Bulgarian girls. He is both charmed by the beauty of our lands as well as disappointed by the neglect that allows it to be maimed as a result of incompetence, poverty or business interest. Perhaps that is the reason for the themes of his films to be so diverse – The Truth about Bulgaria’s Forests investigates the negative effect of the uncontrollable logging in the country, whereas My Personal Pain focuses on issues regarding water purity of Iskar River and the state of the Reserve on the banks of Iskar Reservoir.
Tickets for the screenings in DNK can be purchased at the Ticket Centre at NPC, as well as on site, an hour prior to the event. Ticket prices 6/8 BGN.
