Karadere on one signature away from being built up
The coalition of non-governmental organisations and civil groups “Let Nature Remain in Bulgaria” warns that the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works plans to allow construction on one of the last unurbanised beaches at the Black Sea coast – Karadere, by approving the draft of a new land development plan of Byala Municipality. For that reason a protest is being organized on Friday at 8:30 AM in front of the Ministry.

The Government has promised that the last unbuilt up beaches like Irakli, Karadere and Coral will be “beaches for natural tourism”. Instead of taking into account the proposals from the public for their real preservation through establishment of a Zone “B”, which should be at one kilometer from the three beaches and in it all activities related to construction should be banned, the government has moved towards final destruction of the beaches through the following scheme:

The State divides into parts the beaches, like Karadere, Irakli and Coral, puts a new name on the bigger part of them and leaves unbuilt up only a small patch of the beaches, satisfying the appetites of investors, environmentalists warn.

This has already taken place in Irakli, where a part of the beach is proclaimed “Vaya”, and there you can already see lounges, sun shades for 36 lev per day. Last weekend, environmentalists cleaned up for the fourteenth time the whole of the Irakli beach.

The coalition “Let Nature Remain in Bulgaria” warns that the Regional Ministry has obviously no intention of revising the assignment for a new development plan of Byala Municipality. It includes as a status quo all illegal development plans adopted by the municipality without environmental impact assessment, and thus ensures this time legal building of the whole area from Byala to Shkorpilovtsi.

Minister Lilyana Pavlova could sign any minute the order for approving the assignment and releasing the tender for execution of the new development plan. “We are one signature from this that lawlessness is legalized and Karadere is built up,” environmentalists warn in the invitation to the protest at https://www.facebook.com/groups/karadere.save/

Who requested to rent the beach at Karadere, environmentalists enquire.
