Shot bird of the world endangered species Dalmatian Pelican was accepted for healing at the Wildlife Rescue Centre of Green Balkans
Our team reacted immediately to the signal and the bird, which turned to be a young Dalmatian Pelican, was transported and placed at the resuscitation of the centre. The initial view showed a wound of the right wing, which afterwards the vets diagnosed as a fracture.

Today while doing the regular X-ray preceding each operation of a patient at the centre, it became obvious that the suffering of the bird has been caused by a shooting wound in which one of the shots has remained. Then it followed an osteosynthesis preceded by the removing of the shot from the affected tissue. Now the young pelican is at the centre resuscitation recovering from the surgical intervention.

The case was referred to the competent authorities, and the Green Balkans team continues the struggle for survival of the bird.
