More than 100 farmers and small entrepreneurs from around the country will bring seasonal vegetables, bread and baked goods with leaven, honey and bee products, dairy and meat products, jams, juices, syrups, herbs and many other delicious Bulgarian foods. You will have the opportunity to taste delicious foods, enjoy good music, buy decoration for Easter and have fun at the outdoor ateliers and workshops.
Traditionally, farmers from the Natura 2000 zones in the Western and Central Stara Planina bring to the market yoghurt and artisan cheeses from rare Bulgarian breeds, varieties of honey, jams, eggs from free roaming chickens… These food products have been supported by the Bulgarian-Swiss project “For the Balkan and for the people”, which is showing the success of the small local businesses in protected areas. Most of the animals are traditional Bulgarian breeds, grown extensively, on pasture and outdoors for most of the year. Some farms are certified organic. All the farms are registered in the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency for on-farm processing and direct sale of dairy and meat products, eggs, honey and bee products. Processing is based on traditional recipes and artisan methods.
The market is organized by Sofia Municipality, Pazari Yug Municipal Company, Hrancoop - Sofia, as well as Bioselena Foundation and Bulgarian Society for the Protection of Birds, both partners in the “For the Balkan and for the people” project.
