Almost 500 people from 27 different companies and organizations devoted a day for social causes in 9 places in or around Sofia, Pleven, Dolna Banya and Stara Zagora. Five of the “projects” were environmental – cleaning, renewing and landscaping nature areas as well as city parks and gardens: National Park Vitosha, South Park and Borisovata garden in Sofia, Sredna gora near village Ochusha and Park Kailaka near Pleven. Children with special learning needs and children without parents from the orphanages took part in some of the activities.
The US ambassador to Bulgaria – Mr. Beyrle joined the participants in South Park. “Citizens for Rila” were able to talk to him and gifted him a T-shirt for Rila which he put on right away. The American diplomat regularly visits Rila, he’s concerned about the threat on the mountain and follows closely the actions taken for protecting it. On his behalf we’d like to thank everybody that signed the petition for Rila or anyone that has been out on the street for preserving Rila and nature as a whole, because thanks to all of our efforts to make Bulgaria a country that obeys its laws and respects its nature, we can say that there is a citizens society in Bulgaria.
The initiative belongs to the Foundation Help for Charity in Bulgaria and the American Chamber under the slogan “Responsible company – responsible employees”. Follow their web sites for more photos and to read more about the activities.
