The wild beach has so far managed to resist the thread from the systematic violation of the law, corruption, insolence and the apathy, thanks to the young people who did not spare their time and efforts the last 3 years protecting the beach with all the possible legal sources.
Near 1000 bags of garbage, brought to the beach by the sea and ill-mannered visitors, were filled and taken out of the beach on Sunday. The sponsors expressed their gratitude to Obzor Municipality, which for now is the only one to support the cleaning, by providing transportation for the garbage even thought Irakli is located in Nessebar Municipality.
The positive impetus for the cleaning came from the fact that for the first time the protected territory in the south part of the seacoast was included in the initiative.
Despite the aspiration of hundred self-conscious citizens in the country and those using the beach, the investors pressure continues to destroy both the ecosystem and the nerves of the people whose priority is sustainable development.
“To save Irakli” continues to insist against the cultivation of the Vaya river’s estuary which have been exterminated by the Company “Swiss Property”, which claim that the river was gently organized in the concrete basin in order not to disturb the construction of the “holiday village”.
We would like to remind you that in January 2009, despite the lack of permission, the offshore company registered in Switzerland once again tried to renew the construction work and from the Municipality could not find a mechanism to stop the violators until “To save Irakli” organization interfered.
At the same time the so called “Irakli association” tried to promote the idea that the resort will be built despite the Bulgarian and European legislation. The association of the owners even asked for maintaining the beach, which has never been cleaned by them. This made hundred young people stay alerted, because the same association tried to take the credit for the cleaning of the beach, but the black PR did not lead to change of the public attitude.
“To save Irakli” wants to apologize to the “owners” if the bivouac. By mistake we might have taken some of their household appliances such as a chair and a frying pan (seen by witnesses)?!
We would also like to express our gratitude to the wind and the sea for the fun stuff.
Volunteers and experts from the coalition “Let Nature remains in Bulgaria” supported the campaign, organized by the citizen group “To save Irakli”. Materials were provided by the Bulgarian Biodiversity Foundation. Iceland, Lichtenstein and Norway supported the campaign financially through the Finance Mechanism of the European Economic Area.
