08.10.2008: Yesterday action in Sofia "Wake up for the Nature" has added a new dimension to a series of more than 2 year civil actions. The young, but very active association VeloEvolution has demonstrated in practice what evolution is. They have made change happen by presenting the solution to Sofia"s monstrous traffic. The riksha originates from Asia back in the year 1700, but recently has been widely used in big European and American cities and seems to be the answer to stopping car pollution and finding quicker means of city transport.
The procession was good - heavily attended by youngsters and not only, cheerful and noisy it had all the prerequisites to wake up society from apathy and desperation. As one of the attending journalists put it "This movement is becoming stronger and stronger, while the cause seems more and more "mission impossible". Lets keep up the good work each of us is doing and try to do more to make the mission possible. Lets not forget the wise Bulgarian saying "Помогни си сам, за да ти помогне и господ" - Do your part and god will also help you -
This is related to the other idea I heard these days - the financial crisis that has grasped the World also has a positive side - it would also hamper the unsustainable "investment infrastructure projects" inside the Natural parks, protected areas and other places. Would it really?? Bearing in mind these projects are mainly money laundering?? Time will tell, but let"s do our part and leave the rest to the invisible hand....
