More than 80 citizens in three Bulgarian cities participated in the meetings of the second national tour for Rila on the 8th March 2008. ‘In Pazardjik the people are convinced that the conservation of Rila is turning into a shared national cause which will unite all Bulgarians’. “Citizens for Rila” in Plovdiv, having collected more than 7000 signatures for Rila until now, are participating in the organization of an eco festival on the 22 March in the city of the hills. In Karlovo the citizens pointed out that by working for the preservation of Rila, they are developing the citizen’s consciousness and preserving the Bulgarian culture as well.

What have we learned from the construction of ski center Bansko in National park Pirin?
1. To destroy world heritage protected by UNESCO is just a question of Governmental policy.
2. To deprive the Bulgarian nation of a world pride such as National park Pirin you need to convince the local people that selling their lands is better that running their own business.
3. To build new mega ski resorts in the Bulgarian mountains you need to get authorization only for a single project, then nobody can stop ypu anymore.

On a meeting of the Municipal Council of Sapareva Banya the official support was voted for the construction of ski zone “Panichishte-Ezerata-Kabul”. Thus the municipality backed up the illegal construction again.
