The European Commission has transparent plans for reducing the agrobiodiversity, termination of the old vegetable, fruit varieties and cereals. This may happen if the European Commissioners miss the deadline on May 6, to object to the proposal, submitted by Directorate General for Health and Consumers (SANCO), this warning was made by the Coalition of NGOs and Civil Groups „Let the Nature Remain in Bulgaria“.

Coalition of NGOs and civic groups "For the Nature in Bulgaria" familiarized themselves with the Court of Auditors’ audit of the concession contract for the ski Bansko resort in the Pirin National Park.


The report reveals that "for the period 2001 - 2011 in Bansko Municipality none officer was assigned to control in accordance with Protected Areas Act and the execution of the concession contract with “Julen AD”

The administration of Bansko Municipality did not control the concession activity of "Julen AD.

On 12 April, the European Crossbill Guides Foundation published its guidebook to the Eastern Rhodopes. Ecotourists and naturalists can be very happy to have such professional and specialized nature guide to the Eastern Rhodopes, one of the regions in Europe with the highest biodiversity.
What do the figures in the position of Ministry of Environment and Water indicate and is there a contradiction in the concession contract of Bansko?
Is there a contradiction in the concession contract of ski zone Bansko or such contradictions are only apparent for those, who have violated it many times in the previous years?

The statements of Yulen Jsc that in the concession contract of ski zone Bansko exist contradictions were finally revealed to society by MEW due to our efforts in the past two and a half years : The position of MEW.

Sofia, 10th of April 2013 – The Coalition “ Let nature remain in Bulgaria” was invited to a meeting concerning the destiny of Pirin National Park. It was held in building of the Ministry of Environment and Water. Other participants in the meeting were Bansko municipality, accompanied by its consultant Philip Canov, the concessioner Yulen JSC, as well as the architect who prepared the Structural Plan of the territory of Bansko ski-zone.
Despite of the ban a party was organized by Yulen Jsc in the Bunderitsa meadow!

This is a story for Yulen Jsc, the company that has violated one more ban. The coalition “Let nature remain in Bulgaria'' posted a warn on its facebook page that on March 31st Yulen Jsc prepares a noisy celebration for the end of the ski season in the Bunderitsa meadow with the participation of DJ Bob Sinclar. The event, although attractive at first sight, in fact is illegal and not consistent with the Pirin Management Plan which states: “Actions that are not allowed in the park include: creating noise pollution, disturbing the tranquillity of the park or offending the normal conditions in the habitat of the animal species, that live in the area of the park.

We address you with extreme concern about the plans of the Bulgarian Government to
thoroughly alter the concept model of managing Protected areas in Bulgaria. On 19 February
2013 the High Expert Ecological Council of the Ministry of the Envrironment and Water
(MoEW) approved an amendment to the Management Plan of the Pirin National Park so
that the the level of the restriction regimes regarding the construction of new ski
infrastructure and other associated activities in the park is significantly decreased.

Kichka Dyankova and Yassena Popova are the winners in the second edition of the Competition „Eastern Rhodopes – taste the wild nature“. They submitted the most interesting travel story and the best photo, according to the jury of New Thracian Gold.

The number of participants submitting journey notes and photos in the 2012 contest exceeded the numbers of the 2011 competition. The juries are pleased to announce that this year’s quality is also higher. The photo jury consisted of Bulgarian and Dutch experts; the jury for travel itineraries of Bulgarian experts only. Both juries had long discussions before selecting the best of the 12 travel notes and the best of the 82 pictures of the Eastern Rhodopes.
Commission urges Bulgaria to comply with EU nature protection laws (Kaliakra case)
The European Commission is concerned Bulgaria has not assessed the possible impact of wind turbines and other projects in protected areas of the Kaliakra region. On the recommendation of Environment Commissioner Janez Potočnik, the Commission is sending a reasoned opinion to ask Bulgaria to comply with applicable EU laws. If Bulgaria fails to do so within two months, the Commission may refer the case to the EU Court of Justice. Should the case reach the Court, the Commission may ask for interim measures as well as
the removal of offending projects.
The amendments in the Law of Forests – crony privatization of one of the last remaining public resources

Sofia, 13 June 2012 – The coalition of NGOs and civil groups “For the Nature” warns that the amendments passed today in the Law of Forests will lead to the shadow despoliation of one of the last public resources.
The environmentalists call upon the President Rossen Plevneliev to impose a veto on the amendments and will send a signal about unregulated state aid to the European Commission. Citizen protests are expected.

Cooking Days of Healthy and Organic Dishes from the Eastern Rhodopes

The New Thracian Gold (NTG) project with the support and participation of the Royal Netherlands Embassy in Bulgaria and "Soul Kitchen"-Sofia organize 'Cooking Days' with organic and local agricultural produce from the Eastern Rhodopes on 7, 8 and 9 June in Sofia and in the village of Gorno Pole, Madzharovo Municipality.

In partnership with their Soul Kitchen colleagues the two Dutch chefs Eric van Veluwen and Carolina Verhoeven will make presentations, cook and demonstrate healthy dishes prepared with organic and Eastern Rhodopean products. The guests of the event will have the opportunity to taste the dishes.
